Tai Chi Curriculum

 

Beginner Program (Level 1)

The objective of the beginner program is to introduce students to the theories and basic requirements of Tai Chi, focusing on learning the basic building blocks. The program includes::

  • Warm up Qi Gong routine and stretching exercises

  • Tai Chi Basic exercises

  • Understanding Posture and key Tai Chi principles

  • Basic Tai Chi footwork

  • Learn Yang Style Tai Chi moves 1 to 14


Intermediate PROGRAM (Level 2)

The objective of the intermediate program is to build on the knowledge and skills acquired in basic training and continue learning the traditional Yang Style Tai Chi form. Additional Tai Chi principles will be introduced.  The program includes:

  • Continue practicing the exercises and moves learned from basic training

  • Continue applying the principles and requirements from basic training

  • Understand and apply 1-2 more Tai Chi principles

  • Learn Yang Style Tai Chi moves 15 to 29


Upper Intermediate PROGRAM (Level 3)

The objective of the upper intermediate program is to continue learning the traditional Yang Style Tai Chi form which will now have moves of higher complexity that include kicks and spins. There is more focus on improving flexibility and balance.  The program includes:

  • Continue practicing the exercises and moves learned from the previous levels

  • Continue applying the principles and requirements from the previous levels

  • Additional exercises to work on flexibility and balance

  • Learn Yang Style Tai Chi moves 30 to 46


ADVANCED Program (Level 4)

In the Advanced program students will finish learning the entire Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi form. Advanced Tai Chi principles are introduced with a continued focus on improving flexibility and balance.  The program includes:

  • Continue practicing the exercises and moves learned from the previous levels

  • Continue applying the principles and requirements from the previous levels

  • Understand and apply 1-2 advanced Tai Chi principles

  • Learn Yang Style Tai Chi moves 47 to 85


Upper Advanced and Competition Program (Level 5)

In the Upper Advanced program students will further their Tai Chi skills through form refinement and applications. Advanced Tai Chi principles are applied with a focus on internal strength and movement.  The program includes:

  • Practicing the entire traditional Yang Style Tai Chi forms

  • Applying basic and advanced Tai Chi principles and requirements

  • Detailed form refinement and applications
