2017 Lion dance performance by Wayland Li Wushu to celebrate China's National Day

On 2017 September 22, the lion dance team from Wayland Li Martial Arts Centre (李文启武术学院) performed at a reception hosted by the Chinese Consulate in Toronto (中国驻多伦多总领馆) commemorating the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (国庆招待会).

2017 Health Awareness Day Wushu Demonstration

On 10 September 2017, Wayland Li Martial Arts Centre performed a wushu demonstration for Health Awareness Day (健康关注日) at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (大多伦多中华文化中心).

2017 China Trip

Shifu Wayland Li was invited to visit China as a cultural exchange for international wushu coaches from August 23rd to September 7th, 2017.

The event was sponsored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and brought together a team of esteemed wushu coaches from around the world.

Shifu Li and his peers first visited Beijing for a coaching seminar and exchange, and traveled to Tianjin to attend the 13th National Games of the People's Republic of China (第十三届全运会比赛). More than ten thousand athletes competed in the games across 31 sporting events, including Wushu Taolu and Wushu Sanda.

Following Tianjin, the delegation also visited Shaolin Temple in Henan province.

Celebrating Canada's 150th Anniversary with Wayland Li Lion Dance

The lion dance team from Wayland Li Martial Arts Centre commemorated the 150th anniversary of Canada.  The event was held at Mel Lastman Square on July 8, 2017. Thank you to all of our students for a great performance!

The event featured a 24 lion dance ensemble, dragon dancing and many other traditional cultural performances.  The event was organized by the CTCCO and Dreamland Performing Arts Centre.

2017 CPAC Summer Festival Wushu Demonstration (2017年华夏节武术表演)

Wushu kids from our competition team performed at the 14th CPAC Summer Festival, an outdoor event in the Chinese-Canadian community celebrating Multiculturalism and Canada Day. The event was held at Scarborough Civic Centre in Toronto, Canada on June 24, 2017.

Thank you to all of our athletes for a successful performance, and many thanks to the parent volunteers.

2017年华夏节风采

不知道是否是夏天的缘故,多伦多的周末是忙碌的!这在华人社区来说,情况更是如此!这不,刚刚过去的周六,6月24日,尽管风有点大, 但预报中的暴雨并没有降临,倒是难得的好天气。号称是华人社区最大的户外狂欢节–CPAC华夏节(Summer Festival)在Scarborough Town Cenre成功举行。

从众多的节目安排来看,这倒确实是社区大狂欢!就拿记者在现场的短短时间里,加拿大中国专业妇女协会百合花艺术团的女声三重唱《踩着云》、Ruby的小提琴独奏、李文启武术学院的中国功夫、成功中文学校鹭舞蹈团的舞蹈《春天在哪里》等,特别吸引老人和小孩子们。

Results from 2017 Canadian National Wushu Championships

Congratulations to the 39 Wayland Li athletes that competed in the 2017 Canadian Wushu Nationals!  This year’s performance was outstanding for both our experienced competitors and students participating in their first competition.

  • Erica Li selected as part of the Canadian National Team.  She will be travelling to Kazan, Russia later this year for the World Wushu Championships representing Canada. Congrats Erica!
     
  • Seniors Group: Seven athletes took home 4 gold medals, 4 silver and 3 bronze.
     
  • Group A: One athlete won three gold medals for changquan, daoshu and gunshu.
     
  • Group B: 8 athletes from Wayland Li took home 7 gold medals, 8 silver and 4 bronze.
     
  • Group C: 9 athletes from Wayland Li took home 8 gold medals, 6 silver and 4 bronze.
     
  • Open events: 21 students participated in competition for the first time, taking home 11 gold medals, 8 silver and 13 bronze.

2017 International Wushu Sports Festival & National Championship

Canada's national Wushu competition will take place on May 20-21, 2017 at the Markham Pan Am Centre.

This year's event will feature athletes competing in traditional taolu events, contemporary taolu events, Sanda sparring events and qualifying trials for the Senior National team.

Wayland Li Wushu performance at the 2017 Golden Daffodil Ball

On April 1, 2017, the Wushu demonstration team from Wayland Li Martial Arts Centre (李文啟武術學院) performed at the Golden Daffodil Ball (金水仙慈善晚宴). The event was a fund-raising gala for the Canadian Cancer Society's Ontario Division, and was organized by the GDE Canadian Chinese Outreach (GDECCO).

Wushu Performance at Toronto's St. Patrick's Day Parade, 2017

On Sunday, March 19, 2017, the demonstration team from Wayland Li Martial Arts Centre performed in Toronto's St. Patrick's Day Parade. Congratulations to our students for braving the weather and putting on a series of superb performances. Amazing stuff everyone!
